Junk 101

For those of you who I see from a couple feet above in the junk trunk texting as you are swerving down the road take this one to heart. No joke you are probably checking your facebook or email. I know it because I don't drive our truck frequently so I sit shotgun in the junk truck. My job is to navigate the driver and make him aware of what is going on around him. Tonight I failed miserably. I was on my phone as we were coming out of the city via 90 West on this slicked road night. Mind you when the back of the truck is full it weighs close to 13,000lbs. All the sudden I look up from my phone to find  a taxi doing a 360 about 10ft from our truck. It slid across 3 lanes of traffic and slammed into a million pieces in the median. We immediately dialed 911 but were unable to stop as cars behind us would have been at risk to collision with us. I hope the taxi driver is all right. We were very disappointed that we were unable to stop. Think about this though. I looked up from my cell phone to see this situation happening right in front of my eyes. No way I would have been able to react the same if I looked up after I had been distracted by my phone. Gladly the Driver of our truck takes every precaution to make sure his eyes are always on the road. I started to yell get over because I was afraid the taxi was going to bounce back. The driver of our vehicle had already estimated his reaction because he had been paying attention the entire time. Kudos Nick. Hows that for a 12hr day of junkin. That was how we ended our day.

  1. WOW guys. What a way to end a day. Thanks for sharing. I agree, when I am on 90 or 53 I see drivers texting or checking their emails all the time. This issue is getting worse than drunk drivers! Denise E
